A pioneer in the field of turnaround
management, Donald B. Bibeault, Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP), was
given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Certified
Turnaround Professionals

"Don Bibeault has been a fixture in the field of turnaround management and
corporate renewal for more than 30 years," said Peter L. Tourtellot, chairman
of ACTP. "His 1982 doctoral dissertation, Corporate Turnaround, and its
condensed version in the best-selling book Corporate Turnaround - How Managers
Turn Losers into Winners, were the first comprehensive texts of its kind. It
remains in print today."
Bibeault's book is credited for contributing to the development of the
conceptual foundation for the Management Section of the CTP Review materials.
The ACTP developed the CTP program to recognize professional excellence and
provide an objective measure of expertise related to workouts, restructurings
and corporate renewal. Applicants for certification must meet stringent
standards of education, experience and professional conduct, pass a
comprehensive three-part examination in management, accounting and finance and
law, and maintain the credential through continuing education credits.
Bibeault has been an independent consultant since 1970, leading successful
workouts, turnarounds and Chapter 11 proceedings at a number of medium-size
companies and acting as special advisor to CEOs on three multi-billion-dollar
turnarounds. He was a founding member in 1988 of the TMA, which now has 7,000
members in 34 chapters around the world.
He has served on four university boards and on the Department of Commerce
Advisory Board. He has a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the
University or Rhode Island, an MBA from Columbia University, and a doctorate
and JD from Golden Gate University.
He lives in Novato, Calif., and is currently working on a new book,
Refocusing the Corporation.
